    • System brought down for "grunt work". Needs some things done before we go live.
    • Text needs to be localised.
    • Administration interface needs to be enhanced.
    • User access procedures need to be enhanced.
    • User registration and confirmation need to be more fully tested.
    • Security needs a close and careful audit.

    • Version number upgraded to 0.2.0dev
    • Initial system working and under testing; preparing to go live. Current features:

    • File upload by URL not useful enough to continue developing at present. Security issues abound, and it just seems much easier for users to save files on their local machines and upload them normally.
    • Implemented anonymous user result caching to reduce database load. Not really necessary here, but good for scalability.
    • News reading and submission code completed and under testing.
    • Examining question of user access levels and functionality for security administration.
  • January 4, 2004
    • File database under extension to upload files by URL as well as from user's local computer.
    • Version number PHP-standardised to "0.0.1dev" for future upgrade checking. Exact definitions of the different components are being developed.
    • Install script extended to handle version upgrades.
    • User registration and login working. User profiles under development.
    • File database appears fixed, technical information available at http://www.darklock.com/alatar/files.html for those who are also working on this sort of thing.
  • January 2, 2004
    • Install script cleaned up and separated into functions; examining methods for making script "safe" so deletion after install is unnecessary.
    • User login extended to track online users, user registration half-working (email validation not finished)
    • File database broken, revealed by download testing: Downloaded file not always byte-for-byte identical to uploaded file; may be upload problem, may be download problem, under investigation.
  • January 1, 2004
    • Install script working; verify database connection and setup, check database version, create/upgrade database tables
    • User login working (no new user registration yet: manual user creation only)
    • File upload to database working
