Alatar CMS is a new project. We are still in the initial design phases, but the feature list will be maintained here -- along with any notes we may make on the development process.

The current feature list desired is as follows...

• News on front page
  Like every CMS, there will be news listed on the front page.
• Integrated forum software
  Integrating a forum with a portal is a pain, so a forum will be built into the system.
• Online editing of new pages
  Pages will be maintained in a database structure that can be edited online.
• File download areas
  For software distribution, a file area will allow users to download files. Files will be stored in a database to avoid world-writable areas on the server.
• Catalog management
  An interface for defining and managing e-commerce catalogs will be developed. PayPal integration is being examined.
• Private messaging [Added: Jan 3, 2004]
  Private messaging should not "lose" the message you try to send if the user's mailbox is full.
• Account integration [Added: Jan 3, 2004]
  The system should define a mechanism for other applications to authenticate users from the same database, so you don't need a different registration and login for everything. This is primarily relevant to people who use a third party shopping cart or forum package, for whatever reason.
